2 steps forward, one back,

Sorry for the delay in posting anything, been so busy trying to get the car along that haven't had time to post here. But as I am now off for 5 days thought best post something up.

So engine bay all finished, wiring in, some lights on.

In trying to get her fired up discovered the terminal post on the back of the starter motor had broken so that became a giant paper weight. Big thanks for Barum Engineering for managing to source one for us within 2 hours!!!!

New starter in and fired her up for the first time. She fired up first time! (admittedly on probably 2-3 cylinders) and then the radiator split. ******. If you look carefully in the video you can see the water start coming out along the seam under the radiator filler extension behind the carbs.

Out comes the rad. Have a look. Someone elses previous soldering repair had split. We have a go but frankly wasting our time.

Manage to source a recon rad down at Devon Classic Cars and go and collect this. 1 hour down, 4 1/2 hour drive back. Bloody tourists just before the bank holiday weekend.

Rad in. Wooo right lets check her over again. mmm the heads a bit loose, thought we torqued that up. Start torquing her up and BANG. one of the rocker peddlestool studs snaps. ***** ***** *****

Wills off doing stuff today and coming back via Moss Bristol hopefully with some new studs and a new choke cable (bit worn) and then maybe by time I'm back next week he'll have managed to extract the remains of the broken stud and got her fired up again.. *fingers crossed*

Anyways lots of piccys:

Freshly covered dash, new gauges, sports wheel

Polished (still needs some buffing once the paint properly hardens in a few months)

Pressure testing old rad repair using bits of old bike inner tube

After going through 3 sets of leads fault finding end up having to make our own (PURPLE?!) leads as the sets were all buggered.

New starter motor

LCB side exhaust system with silencer from a Mk1 Spitfire.

Side exit fun times

How to bend exhaust pipe at home: One spare rim, 3 people, 1 blow torch

Newly tarted up rims (very manky to start: will save for some Minilites)

as she stands today awaiting some new cylinder head studs
