Always one more thing....

The flatting and compounding comes to an end and after hundreds of hours the cellulose paint job looks cracking.

Some weird bung in the replacement radiator has let go and weeping so made up a new one with some bronze stock on the lath.

Fitted the cockpit coping piece I custom made and 'Innotec'ed it in.

Had a bit of a problem with the clutch not fully  disengaging. Little endoscope bought for peanuts from Aldi years ago came in use and could see the problem easily. Extended the push rod by 1/4" and its working perfectly now.

Then discovered the charging circuit wasn't working. Turns out the ignition warning light bulb had blown and stopped the sense wire. Quick fix even with no bulb available - hot wired past it whilst bulb on order.

All back together. Ready for the road. Final checks.....what the.......Threads for the fulcrum pins in the wishbones have completely let go. Doh. Original wishbones, probably marginal when we refitted, threads presumably were more ferrous oxide than good metal and have just completely gone.

Removing the suspension discovered some top coat coming off the stone chip so whilst suspension out and new wishbones from MGBHive on order did some remedial work. New wishbones look good, correct radius's, fully welded in fulcrum pin sleeves. Lets hope they hold up. New cotter pins useless though, needed significant grinding away to get the correct wedge shape for them to actually go through the king pins so could get a nut on them.

New carpet kit has arrived from Coverdale including Hardura rear set, will have to wait for some time to fit that. As well as the tall side screens for the DHMC top. Managed to get the last of Peter Farmers sets. Will have to get on with the DHMC refurb this winter now spent a little more money than I had intended for side screens. All in the name of perfection...

So whilst the car is now road worthy and MOTed I still have a full winters worth of work to do......always one more thing.
