So a busy weekend back home...

2 new cars have joined the fleet

A project TR2 and TR3a with a million spares, competition bits for the 3a etc etc.. 3 TR2-TR3As in one place is just ridiculous!Who knows what the old man's plotting...

As for the sprite....

had some issues with the rear brakes locking up and overheating after about 2km.

So off came the drums and they where found to be a state internally so went on the lathe using a spare half shaft to clear them up

That resolved things a bit but not totally, but going back through and discovering there was no play in the master cylinder pistons so as the fluid expanded in the system expanded on heating and jammed the pistons....derp. adding a nice 2mm of play sorted things perfectly.

But then after a run out she appeared to run out of fuel....fuel in the tank, fuel in the filter...fuel in the pump....oh wait the filters full of crap.

We had previously cleaned the tank out but obviously not well enough as when she started to run low she picked up a load of rubbish and blocked the filter exiting the tank (not the inline one we had added).

After scarpering home for tools, a jack etc and getting her home up in the air she went for the tank to come off for a good clean out.

and then off we went for some more testing....to die this time about 7miles from home. This time the inline filter was totally clogged, off dad went in the TR3a to halfords and came back with a new filter. The replacement resulted in an airlock in the line and took awhile of sucking and blowing to manage to clear the system and get the pump to pull through but then she was fine again. Carrying a big syringe and extra bit of fuel pipe really helps for fueling issues like this! Oh and a fire extinguisher..

This morning went for a run again and she was running beautifully (although she does about 10-12MPG!!!!) and with a little ice on the road shes a bit scary....brother managed to lock all 4 wheels at one point...so we headed home and gave her a damn good clean and took some photos for the insurance valuation...
